End of August '05: Dad-o can't wait a whole year to ski after last season, so what do we do? Find snow in the Andes, of course! We fly into Santiago, Chile where we have to sit on our thumbs for a few days while they clear a lane of the 41-hairpin turn mountain pass from the record 20 foot snowfall. After skiing Valle Nevado, Chile for a few days, it's time to pack up for Buenos Aires, Argentina. One crazy day; a four hour, countless bottles of wine, all you can eat gourmet sushi dinner; discothèque 'til dawn; and sprint to Eva Peron's tomb later - charter flight to Las Lenas where we will spend the next 6 days skiing.

La Cojar

(The Necklace) A long hike up to shoot down these couloirs. The tiny dot in the shoot on the right is Jeff.

Thirst

Three bottles of water was a start after the Cojar.

Dad-O

I hope this guy knows what he's doing.

Las Lenas.

The shoot on the left is known as Adrenalina for obvious reasons. We weren't far from the site of the "Alive" crash.

Big mountains.

Little people.

Wrong Way

Dan the guide turning around for a better angle on the couloir.

I'm glad our leader's so mature

Steve, Stan, Dad, Erik the rabbit, and Dan

El Porcupino

Stay away from this man. He's crazy. He'll ski anything!

Safe in the lodge.

Or is it the bar? Home none the less.

Woah Nelly!

Valparaiso on the Chilean coast. Site of the psychotic minibus ride with the driver who didn't think he could die...

OldSchool

Century old Hillside Elvators and we're on one. Remember: Safety third.

Nap Time

Stray dogs seem to outnumber the people here.

Port

Looking out on what was a great port until the canal came along.

and again.

One more time

Navy Boat

Snow

Snow?

Snow!

Guess.

Buckle up for the...

Three hour touuuur

Snow.

Again. But there's a lift this time!

I hope you're getting the point.

Core Shot.

Hard to believe he could do this in 40 ft of snow

Chilean Sunset

Or reflection there of.

Three hour touuur

Catching flies on the flight to Malargue.

These shots are a crime against humanity

The culpret

Erik's going to pay for taking these.

Everybody in the group slept through this one.

Dan

Beware: Sushi and such til 7AM will do this to you.

Nice

This is differnt from the other snow - It's Argentinian.

Got it?

The other stuff was Chilean.

Tracks

Left side. 4 or 5 tight tracks right next to each other. That would be the group deflowering an untracked part of the mountain.

Dumb...

and Dumber.

El Senador?

Notice: 1. I have on the avalanche pack. 2. Steep - Dad's only a few feet away for this shot, but his head's at my feet. 3. Spring skiing - as the snow melts, little balls roll down to refreeze at night as "death cookies"

"Santa Fe"

That would be the bar at the TOP of the hill. I hope he's skiing down on his belly.

Lookout!

Ski's patched. I took a digger right before that photo and scraped up my elbow pretty good.

Jeff, Jim, and Erik

The group split at the end of day 3. some went in, some climbed and skied 'til they found a road and hitchhiked. These three found a sick untouched peak barely off-piste and hit it again and again.
